Juntendo University to establish medical facility in new Mishima station redevelopment project

On August 5th, Misawa Homes announced a 20-year fixed-term building lease agreement signed with the Juntendo Educational Foundation for the construction of a Juntendo University-affiliated medical facility.

Juntendo University is Japan’s oldest school of western medical education, founded in 1838.

The facility will be in Building A of the Mishima Station South Exit East District A Area Urban Redevelopment Project in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

This redevelopment project is part of Mishima City’s Mishima Station Area Grand Design, which envisions a Regional Health and Medical Hub & Smart Wellness Front.

The project will introduce residential spaces, commercial facilities, offices, hotels, and medical and childcare support facilities, aiming to create a "Healthy and Happy City" where residents can live healthy, active, and happy lives.

Key Features of the Project

Location & Structure: The medical facility will be housed on the 4th floor of a 24-story tower condominium (Building A), which is scheduled for completion in fiscal 2027.

Medical Services: The facility, operated by Juntendo University’s Shizuoka Hospital, will feature a high-functioning examination center and clinic covering approximately 1,250 square meters. It will offer around 10 medical departments, including internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics.

Regional Impact: The facility aims to strengthen the healthcare delivery system in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture, where there is a shortage of medical professionals. By providing early detection and connecting patients to advanced medical care, it will play a key role in promoting health and wellness in the area.

Comprehensive Development Plan

Misawa Homes plans to develop Area A and the adjoining Area B (Buildings E and F) as an integrated project.

This will include future business-use land leasing, with Juntendo University responsible for the core medical functions of the regional health and medical hub.

By equipping the facility with medical devices and equipment currently lacking within a 5-kilometer radius of Mishima Station, the project will contribute to creating an environment that supports the health and well-being of the local community.
