On September 17th, Haseko Urbest announced the results of their "Most Desirable Stations to Live Rankings 2024" for the Greater Tokyo Area (GTA).
The rankings were based on a web survey in Japanese conducted among residents of the GTA, held from July 12 to 21, with 2,822 valid responses collected.
Yokohama Tops the Greater Tokyo Rankings for Second Straight Year
In the overall GTA rankings, Yokohama secured the top spot for the second consecutive year with 69 votes.
Respondents praised the area for its abundant shopping facilities around the station and its natural environment.

Omiya, which ranked third last year, took second place with 60 votes, while Kichijoji, last year’s runner-up, came in third with 53 votes.
Comments from respondents included, "Everything I need can be done in Omiya, so I don’t need to go into the city," and "Kichijoji seems to have solid ground and lots of greenery, making it comfortable."
Most Desired 2024 Greater Tokyo Stations to Live by Prefecture
The GTA consists of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama and Chiba prefectures.
For this survey, Tokyo prefecture was broken down further into two regions; the 23 wards and non-23 wards in the west of the prefecture.
Survey says:
Tokyo’s 23 Wards: 1st place: Shinjuku (111 votes), 2nd place: Nakano (105 votes), 3rd place: Kitasenju (89 votes)
Tokyo Suburbs: 1st place: Kichijoji (223 votes), 2nd place: Tachikawa (114 votes), 3rd place: Mitaka (91 votes)
Kanagawa Prefecture: 1st place: Yokohama (233 votes), 2nd place: Kawasaki (127 votes), 3rd place: Fujisawa (97 votes)
Saitama Prefecture: 1st place: Omiya (214 votes), 2nd place: Urawa (122 votes), 3rd place: Tokorozawa (71 votes)
Chiba Prefecture: 1st place: Kashiwa (66 votes), 2nd place: Tsudanuma (59 votes), 3rd place: Funabashi (57 votes)
