LIXIL released the results of a consumer survey on kitchen-related tasks on June 17th. The survey was conducted from April 2 to 30, 2025, targeting visitors to the company’s official website.
A total of 410 valid responses were collected.
When asked whether they ever find kitchen tasks to be a hassle, 79.7% of respondents - nearly 80% - answered “yes.”

In a multiple-choice question about which kitchen tasks respondents find most burdensome, the most common response was cleaning (sink and stovetop), cited 339 times.
This was followed by doing the dishes and tidying up (269 responses), grocery shopping and inventory management (164), food prep such as peeling vegetables or cutting ingredients (128), and cooking tasks like grilling, frying, or simmering (65).
As for how much time respondents spend in the kitchen each day, the largest group (38.7%) said they spend about one to two hours, while another 33.5% reported spending 30 minutes to an hour.
On a weekly basis, 45.3% said they spend eight or more hours in the kitchen - an average of over one hour per day.
To help ease the workload, many respondents reported using time-saving appliances. Dishwashers were the most mentioned tool, followed by microwave ovens for food prep and counter-top appliances like pressure cookers, food processors, and blenders.
Human Fit Technology Tailored to Real Movement
According to the company, LIXIL has conducted over 3,000 hours of behavioral observation and testing to better understand how people use their kitchens.
This research has informed the development of its Human Fit Technology - a design philosophy aimed at minimizing unconscious and unnecessary movement by creating kitchens that adapt to the user, rather than forcing the user to adapt to the kitchen.

Among the innovations introduced through this approach:
Ceramic countertops: Durable against heat, scratches, and stains, these surfaces make cleaning easier and more efficient.
“Yogoren” range ventilation hoods: Equipped with an internal disk that captures up to 90% of oil particles, reducing the need for deep cleaning.
Double-layer support sinks: Designed for ergonomic multitasking, with dual-level plates that improve prep and cleanup workflow.
