On July 15th, Chuo Nittochi broke ground on a pioneering timber office building, tentatively named the Nishi-Shimbashi 1-Chome Project, in Tokyo's Minato Ward.
This project is the fifth addition to the company's "REVZO" series of mid-sized office buildings.
The 10-story structure will blend steel and timber, covering a total floor area of 2,623 square meters on a 338.44-square-meter site.
Completion is anticipated in February 2026.

A total of 118 cubic meters of domestic timber, including larch from the company’s own forests and wood certified under the Clean Wood Act, will be used in construction.
This eco-friendly approach is projected to sequester approximately 79 tonnes of CO2.
The office interiors will feature the "KiPLUS DECK" system, a combination of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and composite slab decking, co-developed by Takenaka Corporation and Nippon Steel Kenzai Co. This design will create a spacious, airy atmosphere.

Additionally, Takenaka Corporation’s fire-resistant timber technology "Moen-Wood" will be used in some columns, displaying the char layer that ensures fire resistance.
Ceiling heights will be around 3,000 mm, and each office will include a balcony.
On the first floor, a communal lounge will be available, featuring an impressive arched wooden ceiling constructed without adhesives, using dowels instead.
The rooftop will boast a green terrace with wooden benches equipped with eaves and power outlets.
This project has been selected for support by the Tokyo Metropolitan Agriculture and Forestry Promotion Foundation under its programs for medium- and large-scale timber buildings and the "Wood Cityscape Creation Project." It also aims to achieve top-tier environmental certifications such as CASBEE Wellness Office S rank and BELS.
At a press briefing on July 12, Shoko Tsuda, Leader of the Investment Development Division at Chuo Nippon Tochi Tatemono, stated, "This will be our first venture into developing a timber and wood-based office building. Based on the outcomes of this project, we plan to explore the application of wood-based interiors for other offices, residential spaces, and logistics facilities."
